Dear Jim,
Some Problems don't translate from a Third World to a first world context. If you don't code plastics, you risk contaminated a single resin with a very small amount of another. If all you want to do is what you can do, they creating products from mixed plastics seems to be what is possible for you. The coding system was created to get past this problem of contamination and if it isn't used you can expect contamination.
