There are several ways to know whether something is recyclable or whether many things are recyclable: you can read the waste press, you can read a textbook on the subject (McGraw-Hill has an encyclopedia of recycling for example), you can ask a consultant, you can ask your state government, you can read web sites such as this.
There is no way that you can tell if a stick of wood has been recycled. The proper term for what recycled wood is, is usually reused .
