My name is Eyhab Melhem and I am the project officer for the Near East Foundation in Jordan. I’ve read your website in regards to environment and recycling and I would like you to send me some of your books, catalogues about developments and environment as a grant, free posters and any other information that might be useful for our project here in Jordan or any type of corporation that you see it will be good for our project and to the organization in general.
Some background information about our organization in general, and the project, in particular, might help to clarify which materials will be most useful.
The Near East Foundation is a New York-based international development organization, with over eight decades of experience in the Middle East, fostering cooperation among government agencies, local communities and research/educational institutions. NEF has worked in Jordan since 1937, focusing its work on enhancing local leadership, vocational training, agriculture and rural development. The Jordan office, along with five other NEF offices (Egypt/Sudan/West Bank/Gaza), operates under the supervision of the regional office in Cairo.
“Cans for Kids” is NEF’s newest environmental initiative that takes its name from the street kids who dig through the trash, collecting aluminum cans to make extra money for their families. CFK’s mission is to connect the community through recycling by building a recycling network to provide work opportunities for underprivileged youth and their families and providing environmental education and activities to schools, community centers and others throughout Jordan.
