Are you aware of any projects or programs in the US that provide collection of reusable household goods/clothing and/or recyclable materials to be delivered to a recycling/swap center for the public to reuse. It seems that many used items are put out on the curb for garbage collection and are destroyed in the smashing garbage hauler's trucks before they leave the neighborhood streets. A cooperative effort between haulers, local agencies and non-profits may be the key to set up centers for the public to rescue reusable goods, fill needs at economical prices, provide jobs, and reduce landfill future space. I am interested in any existing centers/programs, research projects, demonstration projects, grants or funding for such. Thank you for any and all responses.
