Dear Dan Pollock,

According to industry sources (including Laser-Mate, Waltham, MA and Boston Business Journal and Betz Paper Chem), in 1993, 30 million laser toner cartridges were sold and discarded. According to US EPA estimates 99 million ink jet cartridges will be consumed in the current year. Refilling is projected to reach 22% in 1998.
