Dear Lena Dobreci,
If you qualify for support by them, the U.S. Dept. of Commerce is the place to go for export information for all types of materials, including waste materials. The basic place to contact is :
Office of Export Promotion Resources, tel: 202-482-4767.
Office of Export Marketing Programs, tel: 202-482-4231.
There are also CD-Roms put out by the Commerce Dept. called US Merchandise Export CD ROMs ; in another form, the regional offices of the Dept. of Commerce and their universit affiliates have something called the MISER database, which also gives information about what ports in the US export how much of waste material X or Y to what countries. You can get this regionally, by port, or nationally. It costs $.
There will shortly (by Spring, 1997) be available at the Research Library for RCRA, a paper called, Trends and Factors Impacting Markets for Northeast Exports of Scrap Materials. This will include extensive source materials.
For the present, the National Trade Data Bank is widely available at universities for a general picture and specific national statistics of how much waste is exported where.
