Subject: Re: Life cycle of packaging school project (Andy)

May 14, 1997

Dear Andy,

Only the trade Association, the Asceptic Packaging Council, Washington, DC (800-277-8088) will have performed a life cycle analysis of a drink box, if anyone has at all. The problem with these drink boxes are that they are layered materials of different substances, pressed together. Contrary to the industry association claims, a representative of the Environmental Action Foundation took issue with their claims and accused the industry of being less than candid about the recycablity of the asceptic drink box. Jeanne Wirka, Solid Waste Policy Analyst s testimony can be had from Enact at 202-745-4870.
See also the article on the stuff in the 3/94 issue of Waste Age magazine, which, if you can t get access to it, I can send to you. Put your postal mailing address here, with the request, and I ll send it to you by mail.
