The long term market for recycling PET domestically and abroad, but chiefly domestically was prepared by Jill Kauffman Johnson in August, 1993 for US EPA Region 1, called Analysis of Virgin and Recycled Polyethylene Resin Markets . I have a copy of it in my POLYETHYLENE file. If you want a copy, cite this message in an e-mail to me and make mention of the file name. You must include your postal mailing address since it is only in paper copy.
The markets for plastics are extensively monitored by the plastics industry and its institutes and associations. They should not be difficult to find. The American Plastics Institute is but one of many. They most certainly have websites.
Additionally, the US International Trade Commission publishes an annual Industry Trade Summary: Polyethylene Resins in Primary Forms and . . . in Secondary Forms . This is the best international summary available in an ongoing fashion. Data on US exports are also available in a Dept. of Commerce database variously called Miser and other things.
Waste Age magazine puts out a periodic summary of PET as a waste product, e.g. in 2/96, p. 6 or in 11/97, p. 123+
