Subject: Paper mill sludge reuses (Steve Cruikshank)

Sept. 11, 2000

Dear Steve Cruikshank,

It has been used as mine filler, cat litter, spill containment, and in fiberclay products, some of which might be for the uses mentioned. Landspreading and ethanol production are the most commonly mentioned recycled nd uses up until 1998; Only in one TAPPI document ( Sludge characteristics and disposal alternatives for recycled fiber plants, by Gary M. Scott and Amy Smith in 1995 TAPPI Recycling Symposium). TAPPI= Techical Assn. of the Pulp Paper Industry just in case it isn't a household acronym -- is potential use in a cement product mentioned.
