Dear Lisa,

There really are few generalizations that are true about rural vs. urban recycling. In Massachusetts where each city and town gets a grade for its level of recycling. Worcester (a city) and Erving (a small rural town) received an A , while Fall River (a city) and Ashland (a rural town) received an F . Correlations of success require much more complex demography than urban/rural distinctions.
The real difference is that there is much more competition in cities and suburbs among recyclers.
